Our Humanitarian Hotels
A Stay with Purpose
The Pulte Family Charitable Foundation proudly owns three exceptional hotels and resorts known as Humanitarian Hotels. These aren’t just places to stay—they are destinations where hospitality becomes a force for good. Every aspect of our operation is focused on making a meaningful, positive impact, enriching the lives of employees, guests, and the communities we serve.
What sets our hotels apart is that every dollar of net profit is directed toward charitable causes across the nation and around the globe. When guests choose to stay with us, they aren’t simply booking a room; they’re joining our Foundation’s mission to make the world a better place.
The heart of our Humanitarian Hotels lies in more than charitable giving. Each property offers transformative programs for employees, guests, and non-profit partners that reflect the Foundation’s deep commitment to serving those in need. From offering dignified, empowering employment that allows our associates to thrive both personally and professionally, to partnering with non-profits on initiatives like Food Rescue, Refugee Employment, Affordable Housing, and Education, these hotels are dedicated to creating lasting, meaningful change.
Our Foundation’s mission is rooted in serving others with care and kindness. Through our Humanitarian Hotels, we bring that purpose to life every day—touching thousands of lives and creating ripples of positive change across our country and beyond.
Destinations that Make a Difference
PLYMOUTH, MICHIGAN
Saint John's Resort
Your Michigan getaway becomes an act of kindness at St. John's Resort. More than just a luxurious escape, your stay directly empowers communities through initiatives that make an impact. We fight hunger by rescuing excess food from our restaurants and banquets, donating more than 12,200 pounds in 2023 alone, and providing thousands of meals to local soup kitchens. Our resort also opens its doors to refugees, offering housing, employment training, and on-site ESL classes to help them build a better life in their new homeland.
Additionally, we partner with organizations like Gesher Human Services to create job opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And we partner with businesses, organizations, and the public. Groups booking events can choose from a menu of community service activities, while families can enjoy on-site First Tee programming, which teaches young people valuable life skills through golf.
MACKINAC ISLAND
The Inn at Stonecliffe
An escape to The Inn at Stonecliffe becomes an investment in Mackinac Island’s future. We're committed to the long-term health of the island’s community by prioritizing full-time employment opportunities. This stability helps ensure a vibrant year-round population — critical for maintaining essential services like the local school. The Inn at Stonecliffe has also set a new standard for employee housing on the island. Through extensive renovations and new construction, we ensure our team members — and by extension those supporting local businesses — have access to the finest accommodations available.
Beyond a hyperlocal focus, our Inn embraces its role in welcoming new Americans. We hire asylum seekers, providing them with a safe haven and a strong foundation to build a new life. Your stay opens up access to education for families and empowers their journey toward becoming contributing members of the Mackinac Island community.
LARAMIE, WYOMING
Hilton Garden Inn Laramie
Your stay in Laramie strengthens Wyoming’s future in the hospitality industry. Choosing the Hilton Garden Inn Laramie isn't just about comfort. The Pulte Family Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities for the next generation of tourism professionals. Through the Student Enrichment Fund, we provide scholarships to deserving students, enabling them to participate in life-changing hospitality and tourism internships. These programs offer valuable real-world experience but are often inaccessible without financial assistance. The Foundation also supports the Student Excellence Fund, sponsoring a hospitality competition that allows students to showcase their skills and knowledge.
Finally, the Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Internship offers two lucky students a chance to gain practical experience through customized rotations across different hotel departments while incorporating a unique charitable element. This component requires interns to collaborate on a new “humanitarian” concept to be implemented at the hotel.
